Church Leadership

Church Meeting
Alongside our services, as a Baptist Church we meet together each month at a Church Meeting for the whole church to seek Jesus leading for us.

This usually takes place on the second Sunday of the month after the service to allow as many members as possible to be involved.  The meeting lasts around 1 hour. It is in this meeting that the church makes its key decisions, guided by the Minister and Deacons.  We believe that we can listen better to God’s leading when we listen together, and all views, thoughts and opinions are invited.

Deacons
We have an elected group of Deacons who meet regularly to support the church and discuss key issues along with the Minister to help guide the church in moving forward.

Minister
Our Minister, Rev Matt Jeffrey, has lived in Coventry for more than 20 years.

Matt is married to Vicki, with three children, Beth, Jack and Joshua.

He moved from his home county of Shropshire to study for a degree in Community and Youth Studies in Lancaster in the late 1980’s, before then moving to Coventry to work with the homeless with Coventry Cyrenians.

Whilst here he began attending Walsgrave Baptist Church, where he was baptised following an Alpha? course.

In 2000, he moved to work full time with Walsgrave Baptist Church as Youth Minister, with a focus upon the youth in both the local community and the church.

From 2010 to 2013, the church generously supported Matt through his Ministry studies at Regent’s Park College, Oxford.

Following this Matt was ordained and joined with Lentons Lane Baptist Church as Minister in September 2013.
